Surviving high school is a rite of passage for teenagers. However, gone are the days of sitting in a classroom reading from textbooks or learning in 2D. Now, education is moving forward with the help of 3D animation.

Blended Reality
Blended reality combines augmented reality with both physical and digital elements and blurs the line between virtual and the real world. One of the best examples of the use of blended reality in classrooms is in Biology lab. Students are now able to use 3D animations to assemble organs, providing a deeper understanding of how each individual organ works and how the organs work together.

Teacher’s Role
As education transitions from 2D to 3D, it is important for teachers to transition as well. No longer will teachers have to stand at the front of the classroom and lose the interest of their students. Einstein said, “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” As technology progresses, so will teachers’ lesson plans as they look for more ways to provide more personalized and engaging lessons.

Engaging Experiences
The use of blended reality in the classroom allows for more multimedia use, which allows the lesson to come to life. It has been seen the more a student is able to interact with a lesson, such as a 3D animation or model, the more they are able to retain the lesson being taught.

Outside of science labs, there are other uses for 3d animations in other classrooms. At Blue River Career Center, for example, the 3D Computer Animation and Visualization class uses animations and techniques to manipulate images, edit video and create animation. Who knows…these students may be future employees of Pixar, bringing up the latest in animated movies.

No matter the use of 3D animation in the classroom, students will be able to express themselves even more than through pen and paper. Engaging experiences won’t be limited to just lessons either. Teachers will now be able to see essays come to life through their student’s storytelling.

These are just a few ways in which 3D animation will help mold the future of education and we here at PixelPerfect Studios can’t wait to see what the future holds.
